Karma Yoga’s 2011 Workshops
ABOUT OUR TEACHERS AND WORKSHOPS
Opening Yoga Ceremony with Teresa Austin
Teresa Austin has been a yoga student for over eleven years, and pays particular homage to Astanga Yoga. She developed Myth-Asana as a result of her many years of teaching World Mythology and studying yoga. She has also been highly influenced by the writings of the masters Sappho, Thich Nhat Hanh, and Ralph Waldo Emerson. Teresa believes that each student truly discovers his or her own true nature harmoniously from a consistent practice of asana, pranayama, and meditation. She feels blessed to have studied with teachers such as Matias Flury, Tim Miller, Sean O’Shea and Dana Rae Pare, to name a few. Teresa regularly yokes asanas (postures) with mythology, symbolism, and philosophy. The student finds that the class itself becomes a living breathing entity in our collective journey together towards interconnection with all.

Workshops & Descriptions:
Thai Massage with Maura Rassman
Growing up a competitive and enthusiastic athlete, Maura’s interest in physiology started at a young age. This led to her eventual pursuit of a degree in biology from UCSD, to further her understanding of the body and its inner workings. During her college studies, she discovered the ancient healing art of yoga, and began a new life journey. Through her athleticism, and her newfound dedication to yoga, she grew into a place where body, mind and spirit came together as one. A dedication to her yoga practice took her to India, where she immersed herself in the yogic path and began studying Thai Massage.
Thai Massage uses compressions, pressure on specific points and stretches to release blockages, and results in a free flow of energy throughout the body.
Deep Yoga with Bhava Ram & Laura Plumb
Master Teacher, Bhava Ram and his wife Laura Plumb are the Founders of Deep Yoga, a Yogic system based upon Vedic scriptures, Hatha, Tantra and Ayurveda that goes deeply into the mind/body/soul connection, guiding students and clients towards greater self-understanding, purification, inner-healing and deeper consciousness. Deep Yoga is the result of Bhava’s personal experience of living with terminal illness and chronic pain that gave him a passion for sharing the transformative healing power that can be accessed and mastered through the sacred science of Yoga.
Laura Plumb is an Ayurvedic Practitioner, Yoga Teacher RYT-500, co-founder with her husband Bhava Ram of the Deep Yoga School of Healing Arts, and creator of the Blog, FoodALoveStory.wordpress.com As a lifelong student of the world’s great wisdom traditions, steeped in the Shakti of the Sri Vidya lineage and the teachings of Paramahansa Yogananda, now gratefully under the spiritual guidance of H.H.
